Terry Birdsong – Graves County Basketball – March 5

Graves County Eagles coach Terry Birdsong talks about his team’s impressive run to the Boys First Region Championship.  Coach Birdsong discusses the total team effort that lifted the Eagles to the program’s 8th regional title, and he highlights the balance and togetherness that put Graves County on the road to Rupp Arena.  Coach Birdsong also provides a scouting report on Graves’ first round foe, Ohio County, and he outlines what his club must do to reach the elite eight at the Sweet 16.

Bruce Lane – Calloway County Basketball – February 25

Calloway County Lakers coach Bruce Lane takes a look back at his team’s Fourth District tournament championship win over Marshall County, and he talks about how much the win could mean for his talented young team.  Coach Lane details the many heroes to the Lakers’ victory, and he says the performance was truly a total team effort.  We then get Coach Lane’s thoughts on Calloway County’s first-round regional matchup with Paducah Tilghman, a contest that will be the Lakers fourth meeting with the Tornado this season.  He provides insight on the challenges Tilghman presents, and he also discusses the unique circumstances around playing a team for the fourth time.  We close our visit with Coach Lane by getting his thoughts on the regional tournament field, and like his peers in the coaching world, he sees a bracket where almost anything could happen on the road to Rupp.

Brian O’Neill – Carlisle County Basketball – February 25

Carlisle County Comets coach Brian O’Neill reflects on his team’s First District tournament championship over Fulton City.  Coach O’Neill talks about his veteran Comets and their ability to execute in close games, and he notes how much that helped Carlisle County outlast the Bulldogs in the district title game.  Coach O’Neill provides his insight on the Comets’ regional quarterfinal matchup with St. Mary, highlighting what his club must do well to have success against the Vikings.  He also shares his thoughts on the rest of the regional tournament field, and he says a number of clubs have a chance to earn the highly-coveted ticket to the Sweet 16.
